Lindy review (2026): pricing, phone number, approvals and limits

A dedicated ceramic telephone handset, envelope and branching task tiles beside a protective approval gate and a blank plan-price tag, balanced review of assistant features and limits.

Lindy is an easy AI assistant to start with: a free plan, configurable Slack guardrails and, since October 14, 2026, its own phone number. The catch is cost, because credits vary by job and every active user is billed. If you want an assistant that documents its own email address and calendar too, see OpenAssistant.

This review reads Lindy’s own pages. It reports what the pages say Lindy does, what it costs, and where Lindy’s pages disagree with each other.

What it is

Lindy’s homepage describes it as “your AI teammate that plugs into your tools,” and the FAQ goes further: “Lindy is an AI employee for your whole team” (Lindy). The homepage headline reads “Hire Lindy, get it done.” The product is presented as a Slack-based team assistant, and the pages also list iMessage and email. An admin installs it in Slack, and everyone else links their own account with one tap (Lindy).

The employee language is marketing. The pages we read describe software with credits, not a person, and say nothing about legal status.

What it does (as Lindy describes it)

Lindy’s pages list pulling reports, updating a CRM, clearing the inbox, scheduling, recording meetings and running routines. The pricing page’s “everything included” block names scheduled routines and meeting recording with notes (Lindy pricing). Channels:

The pages we read do not say: whether Lindy has its own email address, whether you can rename it, a separate SMS number beyond iMessage and receptionist confirmations, and call quality.

Price

Lindy charges per seat plus credits. Every active user is billed. The live browser view shows $49.99 a month for 5,000 credits; extracted public content shows $29.99 for 3,000, as described in the dated update below. A larger ladder of credit bundles runs up to $9,999.50 for 1,750,000 credits. The page shows no monthly or annual toggle. Top-ups are $10 per 1,000 credits. Monthly credits refresh each billing cycle and do not roll over, while top-up credits do (Lindy pricing).

How far a credit goes: Lindy says everyday asks use 2 to 250 credits, deep work 250 to 1,000, and big builds 1,000 to 2,500. So even 5,000 credits could be a handful of large jobs or many small ones. Admins can set credit allocations per seat.

Free: a free plan gives $50 in credits with no card, and the credits last 7 days. Teammates who join through Slack get a 7-day free trial before a seat is billed. Enterprise is custom and adds HIPAA with a signed BAA, SSO, SCIM and audit logs. Calls start at 25 credits per minute plus a separate monthly number fee (usage docs).

Lindy pricing update: Public views differ: the browser shows $49.99 for 5,000 credits; extracted content shows $29.99 for 3,000. Confirm the tier at checkout. The browser credit picker starts at 5,000; its options do not show the extracted 3,000-credit tier. We cannot confirm that the lower tier is available to a new buyer. Credits are pooled across the team.

Page gaps: The pricing page’s feature text names Pro and Max, but the cards show only Team and Enterprise, and we could not find Pro or Max prices. The same page lists “Computer use on Pro and Max” while the Team card also lists “Computer use” (Lindy pricing). Ask which plan includes it.

Approvals and control

The pricing page states a clear rule: “Anything with outside impact waits for approval such as sending an email,” while “Read-only lookups from approved sources do not require approval” (Lindy pricing). That is the clearest approval statement on Lindy’s pages. The integration documentation, qualifies this: writes can be allowed, require approval or be disabled. These settings apply in shared Slack threads; web chats, Slack DMs and text conversations are outside them.

The homepage says shared channels use only public sources and DMs stay private, and that actions that write or send “can wait for your approval,” which is softer wording than the pricing page (Lindy). Seat billing is the other control to look at. Because every active user is billed and teammates link themselves in Slack, ask whether an admin can limit who links.

Security and data

Lindy’s security page shows a SOC 2 Type II badge (Lindy security). Its homepage FAQ lists SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA and PIPEDA, and the security page lists the same four, while the pricing FAQ says SOC 2 and GDPR, with HIPAA only on Enterprise. The pricing page limits HIPAA support to Enterprise with a signed BAA. Confirm your plan in writing. The homepage also says your data is never sold or used to train models (Lindy).

Risks and watch-outs

Questions to ask Lindy before you buy

  1. Which tiers can I actually buy: the browser-shown $49.99 for 5,000 credits or the extracted $29.99 for 3,000? Every seat adds credits to a shared pool; confirm the available tier and per-seat charge at checkout.
  2. What does a phone minute or a call cost in credits, and is a call approved first?
  3. Can I cap who links Lindy in Slack, and how fast does a seat start billing?
  4. Which compliance commitments and BAA apply to my plan?

Who it suits

From documented facts only: a Slack-based team of a few people that wants an assistant for email, scheduling, meeting notes and routines, and can verify the guardrails for each channel. A free plan lets you start cheaply. It suits you less if you need phone numbers beyond the supported regions, need a firm monthly cost (credits vary), or need HIPAA and are not on Enterprise.

Verdict, from public information only: an easy product to start; verify the approval setting for each channel. Check the credit cost on your real work before adding seats.
